Intership Project - Summer Reading Program

We had to create a summer reading program for our media center. I chose to use an idea suggested by one of my students:

Spooky, Scary and Just Plain Disgusting!

The books on the suggested reading list are books that are available from the Polk County Library Cooperative, and books that (hopefully) students would enjoy. These are not books that would be on most lists of "classic" literature, but books that students may actually read. Here is the brochure I made to advertise my imaginary summer reading program.

Internship Project - Library Display

For one of our internship projects, we created a library display. I did mine in March, celebrating Women's History Month. I also utilized a bulletin board in the sixth grade hallway to tie it all together. I also modified a research activity I found online to create a lesson plan that teaches students to use WilsonWeb, one of the databases that the School Board provides.

Library Media Program Philosophy

One of our internship assignments was to create and express our own personal school media program philosophy. This was a very difficult assignment for me, but I was happy with my result. These are the fundamental beliefs that I feel are important and will guide my activites as a school librarian or as I prefer to be called, a "teacher-librarian."

Web 2.0

Another one of our assignments was a paper on "Web 2.0" For some, that is a really confusing concept. Here are my thoughts on Web 2.0

For one of our assignments, we had to write a reaction paper to Web 2.0. We had to include an interview and a digital component. My interview was with Donna Hall from Pinellas County, (thanks a million!!) My blog is part of my digital component, and this video from YouTube which helped me understand exactly what Web 2.0 means.

My London Photobook

I was lucky enough to get to take two of my classes in London last summer. One of our assignments for class was a photobook. This link will take you to my photobook.

Projects from my Journey

I have been working on my Master's degree since January 2007. It has been a long, difficult journey, but the end is in sight. It has been a fabulous trip, even though it is the hardest thing I've ever done. I will be posting some of the projects we've had to do. Enjoy!
